Celladour is an imaginative tale of the grotesque process of beautification.
Inspired by the Geisha culture and making specific reference to the cultural cruelty of Chinese foot binding – (which has been administered to little girls for over 1000 years). Celladour addresses the search for an intrinsically unattainable standard of beauty.
Celladour is a softly narrated, highly visual and distinctly physical performance which is told through the actions of three trainee Geishas, undertaking their universal quest to become “The Madame Butterfly” – the ultimate beauty.
